Game Over: Spring is an artist-led first-person game and playable artwork about uncertain ecological futures. Beginning with the 1960s controversy over DDT and Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, the player takes the role of a governor asked to make decisions about nature, technology, and human convenience without knowing their long-term consequences.
Each choice leads the player into a different possible future. Some environments imagine increasing coexistence with plants, insects, and other species; others introduce robots that promise greater comfort and efficiency; later scenarios explore technological attempts to manage endangered species, ecosystems, and even human populations. Rather than offering a single path to victory, the game unfolds through branching timelines in which every solution creates new contradictions.
Through exploration, environmental storytelling, interaction, and replay, Game Over: Spring asks what it means to make consequential decisions when there may be no clearly correct ecological future.
